The study, published in Computers in Human Behavior, found that participants with higher AI literacy significantly overestimated their performance compared to those with less experience. This “reverse Dunning-Kruger effect” contradicts the classic pattern where less knowledgeable people are most overconfident. The research suggests that even technical experts might overestimate their ability to properly vet and implement these systems.
