Assassin’s Creed Veteran Unveils Nightholme, a Horror Extraction Game Set in Corrupted Fantasy World

Assassin's Creed Veteran Unveils Nightholme, a Horror Extrac - Industry Veteran Announces New Horror Project Alexandre Amanci

Industry Veteran Announces New Horror Project

Alexandre Amancio, the former Assassin’s Creed director behind acclaimed titles including Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and Assassin’s Creed: Unity, has revealed his latest creative venture, according to reports from his newly established Studio Ellipsis. The project, titled Nightholme, represents a significant departure from his historical action-adventure background, venturing into the emerging horror extraction genre.

Nightholme’s Gameplay Mechanics

Sources indicate that Nightholme will feature large-scale player-versus-player-versus-environment (PvPvE) combat set within a corrupted fantasy world overrun by a mysterious force called Gloom. The game will pit rival teams of three players against both terrifying Nightwalker bosses and each other in an open-world environment. Analysts suggest the game’s unique approach to character evolution could set new standards for the extraction genre.

According to the development team, players will assume the roles of Grimrunners who consume potions to transform into monstrous forms during gameplay. This transformation system reportedly allows for dynamic adaptation throughout each match, with players adjusting their monstrous evolution based on encountered challenges and strategic needs. The extraction mechanics, the report states, will require victorious squads to secure powerful loot called Terror Seeds – which grant permanent new abilities – and successfully escape the corrupted realm.

Studio Background and Development Vision

Studio Ellipsis, based in Lisbon, Portugal, boasts development talent from prominent studios including Avalanche, Bungie, and several Ubisoft subsidiaries such as Massive Entertainment. The studio released an initial trailer showcasing moody cinematics and pre-alpha gameplay that emphasizes what sources describe as a “strikingly exaggerated horror-fantasy art style.”

In an official statement, Amancio explained the studio’s creative direction: “After opening our studio doors last year, we’re thrilled to share our first game, Nightholme. Our team of both newcomers and industry veterans set out to create a one-of-a-kind multiplayer horror experience that’s as terrifying as it is unpredictable, where every match feels like its own unique story of survival.” He further emphasized that “the last thing anyone needs is another generic multiplayer game,” indicating the team’s commitment to delivering what analysts suggest could be a fresh take on both horror and extraction genres.

Availability and Additional Information

Prospective players can currently wishlist Nightholme on Steam, according to the official announcement. The development team has established an official website where additional details about the game’s mechanics, world lore, and development progress will be shared as the project advances toward release. Industry observers suggest that Amancio’s established track record with major franchises could position Nightholme as a significant contender in the competitive extraction game market.
