Key Features and Availability
The opt-in feature, which remains disabled by default, becomes accessible after installing the September 2025 Windows Monthly Cumulative Update on Microsoft Entra joined devices. The backup system preserves Windows settings and user preferences while generating a detailed list of Microsoft Store-installed applications.

While backups can be created on Windows 10 22H2 devices alongside Windows 11 versions 22H2, 23H2, and 24H2, restoration is limited to the three Windows 11 versions – clearly encouraging migration from older operating systems.
The restoration process maintains the familiar Out of the Box Experience while reinstating all saved settings and preferences from the backup.
